Cyber criminals are sending fake SMS, WhatsApp messages, emails, and making phone calls claiming that your electricity connection will be disconnected due to an unpaid bill. They ask you to click a link, install an app, scan a QR code, or make an urgent payment.

🔒 Stay Safe:

• Pay your electricity bill only through the official electricity board website or mobile app.

• Never install unknown apps sent through SMS or WhatsApp.

• Do not share your OTP, bank details, debit/credit card information, or UPI PIN with anyone.

• Avoid clicking on suspicious payment links or scanning unknown QR codes.

• Verify any payment reminder by contacting your electricity provider directly.

🚨 If you become a victim of electricity bill fraud:

• Immediately contact your bank and block the transaction if possible.

• Report the incident by calling 1930 as soon as possible.

• File a complaint at https://cybercrime.gov.in.
